CAIPE Ireland
As part of an initiative in CAIPE to extend and increase membership and partnership working Marilyn Hammick recently visited the Republic of Ireland and participated in a one day event at the Institute of Technology, Tralee. The aim was to introduce education, practice, policy and research staff to CAIPE and interprofessional initiatives in the UK and elsewhere.
The day highlighted international interprofessional work including EIPEN and included a report on a local primary care initiative that enables collaborative working. There was a presentation from colleagues in the Centre for Excellence in Interprofessional Education, Northern Ireland showing the work there, including simulated interprofessional learning for undergraduate students.
Participants spent the afternoon in workshop sessions discussing how best to take forward interprofessional education and collaborative working in Ireland. There are further meetings planned and all parties look forward to working together on future interprofessional initiatives.
